Early morning on 23rd February 2024, the first container ship of ZIM arrived at Cai Lan International Container Port, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province. The launching of this route allows the fastest connection of goods to USA market, from Northern Vietnam to the West Coast of the United States taking only about 16 days.
The ship named SEASPAN KOBE, 269.8 meters long, 5.9523 DWT tonnage (capacity to carry about 5,000 containers), docked at Cai Lan International Container Port bringing about 800 empty containers to prepare to receive goods on the next trip and loaded on the ship about 100 containers of goods.
This is the first trip of the service route named ZIM Ecommerce Xpress (ZEX) of ZIM (Israel) to Ha Long with the connecting schedule: Cai Lan International Container Port - Diem Dien, Shenzhen (China) - Los Angeles (USA) - Cai Lan International Container Port.
According to the plan, every week, Cai Lan International Container Port will welcome a ZIM container ship on Friday.
Normally, from ports in Northern Vietnam to the West Coast of USA takes about 34-36 days; transporting goods from Northern Vietnam to the West Coast of USA by air takes about a week and is very expensive.With this new route and the most advanced service of ZIM, from Ha Long to the West Coast of USA only takes about 16 days and it’s much cheaper than air transportation.
The route does not go through the Panama Canal and especially the Middle East region, so it is very safe and not affected by the world situation.
