At the invitation of Korean Prime Minister Han Duck Soo, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation paid an official visit to Korea from June 30 to July 3. The visit strengthened the friendly relations between the two countries and achieved significant outcomes for the advancement of diplomacy.
First, A business forum was held, and 23 business agreements (MOU) were signed with 19 Korean companies and institutions, including SK, POSCO, and Hyosung, and 18 Vietnamese companies and institutions. Second, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong to discuss strategies for attracting semiconductor investments. Following this meeting, he visited Samsung's Pyeongtaek semiconductor plant. Bac Giang Province in Vietnam is being considered as a strong candidate for investment.
Third, Vietnam and the Republic of Korea agreed that economy is one of the leading important pillars in their cooperation, and concurred to deploy specific measures to realize the target of 100 billion USD in two-way trade in 2025 and 150 billion USD in 2030 towards a balanced and sustainable direction.
