A fuel surcharge is an additional fee imposed to offset the burden of a sharp increase in jet fuel prices(MOPS) instead of raising the base fare. Recently, international oil prices have been fluctuating frequently, making it impractical to adjust airfares each time. Therefore, 'Fuel Surcharge' was introduced to apply adjusted fuel charges, either increased or decreased, on a monthly basis.
